Dr Arabinda Ray, Graduated from University College of Medical Sciences, Delhi in 1975 with a Gold Medal in Obstetrics & Gynaecology. Subsequently completed his Post Graduation in Anaesthesiology from IPGMER & SSKM Hospital, Kolkata. Joined Indian Railway Medical Service through Union Public Service Commission in 1977. Worked as Anaesthesiologist, Chief Anaesthesiologist, Medical Director and finally took charge of South Eastern Railway as Chief Medical Director in 2012 administering six hospitals covering extensive regions of West Bengal, Jharkhand, Odisha and Bihar. Retired from IRMS as CMD in December 2014.
Has visited Africa on six occasions as Anaesthesiologist member of Rotary International Medical Mission to Sierra Leone, Nigeria (thrice), Madagascar, & Lesotho. Rendered anaesthesia in remote locations safely & successfully to heal the suffering people of those countries.
Had successfully organised ISACON 2005 & ISACON 2017 – National Conference of Indian Society of Anaesthesiologists at Kolkata. Had been Governing Council Member of Indian Society of Anaesthesiologists. Have active interest in Critical Care both training and practice in the hospitals that he has worked. An active Rotarian for more than 25 years and a Paul Harris Fellow co-ordinating social welfare activities regularly.Has a liking for public speaking, acting & has taken part in television films & feature films. Member of Indian Society of Anaesthesiologists, Indian Society of Critical Care Medicine, Research Society of Anaesthesiology & Clinical Pharmacology, Indian Society for the Study of Pain & Indian Medical Association. Presently co-ordinate the Hospital services of KPC Medical College & Hospital with special attention to ICU & OT services.
